Paul Peter Poppish, 65, of Oswego, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at his home. He was born August 29, 1955 in Pottsville, PA, son of Paul J. and Helen nee Andrescavage Poppish. Paul graduated from Nativity B.V.M. High School in Pottsville, PA Class of 1973, and from West Chester University of Pennsylvania Class of 1977. After initially working in law enforcement, Paul entered the world of insurance, where he rose through the ranks at Liberty Mutual, AIG, CNA, and Selective before working in senior positions at Kemper, Lincoln General, and AmTrust. As a consummate insurance professional with a focus on claims, Paul built AmTrust's specialty claims division from the ground up, ending his eight years with the company as Vice President of Specialty Claims responsible for a staff of approximately 100 employees. Paul's 40+ year insurance career also encompassed work for Accredited, a leading national insurer, and InsClaim, a specialty claims administration business. Paul was an avid golfer, enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC, and the greatest pleasure of his life was spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his loving, devoted wife of 43 years, Sharon nee Botek Poppish; two daughters, Sara (Jason) Walker of Plano, IL and Jane (Josh) Ferris of Plano, IL; his granddaughters: Haley, Leah and Ava; grandsons: Ethan, Chase and Hunter; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Tom Kline; his closest cousin, Louise Andrescavage; his aunt, Mary Andrescavage; a cherished great niece, Spencer; nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. and Helen Poppish. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. Fr.
