Patrick John O'Connor "Daddy O", age 65, of Oswego, IL, went to be with his loved ones and in the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born on August 20, 1952 in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of the late Peter Leo O'Connor and Mary Lorraine nee Kalb Leazer.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jean Carol nee Dietrich O'Connor; his daughter, Lori (Michael) Melton of Aurora, IL; his son, Patrick (Rachel) O'Connor Jr. of Aurora, IL; his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Paul, Jackson Melton, Mason O'Connor, Kylie Melton, and Addison O'Connor of Aurora, IL; his siblings, Mary Kary (John) Havranek of Humboldt, TN; Ellen (Jim) O'Connor of Skyline, AL; Betsy (Charles) Metcalfe of Batavia, IL; Peggy (Steven) Klauser of Springville, UT; Ruth (Kevin) Forester of Lafayette, TN; Peter V. (Lola) O'Connor of Lafayette, TN; and Michael (Theresa) O'Connor of Holly Ridge, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents and his treasured brother, Charles Metcalfe of Batavia, IL.
Patrick grew up in Orland Park, IL, and moved his family to Oswego, IL, in 1977. He was a kind-hearted, smart, and funny man who loved his wife "Jeannie", his children, and his grandchildren with all his heart. His "grandbabies" were his pride and joy. He treasured his time with his wife, travelling the country together when they could. His siblings, family, and friends meant the world to him. He was one of the best storytellers at any gathering. Patrick loved to restore, show, and drive his antique vehicles. He was also an accomplished truck driver of 42 years, retiring from ABF Freight in Oswego, IL.
A gathering is scheduled for 4 PM through 7 PM on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Dunn Family Funeral Home at 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. A service will follow at 7 PM at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Olson of Good Shepherd Church officiating the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Patrick's life.
