IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Lynn
(Nee Skoglund) Doyle
March 21, 1946 – June 26, 2025
Patricia Lynn (nee Skoglund) Doyle, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 79.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Jim Doyle; her son John Reeves, whom she loved immensely; and her sisters, Jackie (Gene Tobolski) Davis and Mary (Ray) Devereaux. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Lindsay (Sam) Fong, Shane (Teresa) Davis, Leslie (Eric) Johns, and Laurie Devereaux; Step-Kids Heather Moise (Mike) and Troy Doyle, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Born on March 21, 1946, in Geneva, Illinois, Pat was the oldest daughter of the late Virginia (Johnson) and John (Jack) Skoglund. She grew up in Geneva, IL, where her father ran the family's funeral and furniture business for many years and was a fixture in the Geneva community. She attended Geneva High School, where she formed friendships and fond memories that lasted a lifetime. After graduating Geneva High School, Pat continued her education at Gulf Park College in Gulfport, Mississippi during the 1960's. While there she made many lifelong friends and often spoke fondly of those years, especially the moments she spent beneath the majestic Friendship Oak, which she took most of her family members to see. She eventually went on to work many years at Aurora University, where she earned her bachelor's degree and the Sugar Grove Police Department as an Administrative Assistant. She thoroughly enjoyed her years working at these two places and cherished the people she met while working there.
Pat loved to travel, constantly going on road trips and cruises with family throughout her life. She also loved to go shopping: Pat would never pass up an opportunity to buy some new clothes, shoes, purses or jewelry. She was a really big fan of going out to eat with a visit to Texas Roadhouse or Fireside Grill for Prime Rib at the top of the list. And of course she was always on the constant lookout for a nice hot bowl of "shoup". A lifelong animal lover, she had a special place in her heart for dogs and cats. She could be found most days, on the couch with her dachshunds watching TV or reading a book.
Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Family functions will never be the same again without her unique sense of humor.
A memorial will be held Jul 18, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Cheshire Clubhouse in the Prestbury neighborhood where she lived for over 40 years. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pat's name to Anderson Animal Shelter, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge or an animal or humane society.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
