ORVEN L. FRULAND November 26, 1928 - September 5, 2018 Orven Lowell Fruland, 89, of Newark passed Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion. Orv was born November 26, 1928 in Mission Twp. to Landy & Odella (Moland) Fruland. He married Ruth (Lesser) February 23, 1957 in Lombard. He graduated from Newark High School in 1946 and had farmed all his life in Mission Twp., was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church and had served on the church council. He had been a stockholder of the original Newark Elevator and also of his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. He was a past member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge #1016. Orv was a long-time bowler with local bowling teams and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his wife Ruth; his two daughters, Darcy Fruland of Wayland, Missourri, Jana (Brad) Eike of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Matthew Eike, Kylie Eike, Peyton Eike; a sister, Carol (Bob) Nordengren of Newark; a sister in-law, Carol Fruland of Newark; nieces & nephews in Illinois, Florida and Tennessee. Orv was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy; his brother, Russell "Smoky" Fruland and a sister, Marvis Fruland. The family wishes to extend a loving thank you to his special caregivers at Willow Crest Pavilion. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Newark Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 101 E. Liberty St. Newark. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Charles Sampson officiating. Interment will be at the Millington-Newark Cemetery.
