Oliver Lew "Ollie" Pierce, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on October 25, 1930, in Vermillion, South Dakota to William and Ollie Pierce. Ollie lived a full and vibrant life, marked by love, service, and community involvement.
Ollie was married to the love of his life, Brona Lu, on March 6, 1953. Their union was a testament to true partnership and devotion that lasted a lifetime. Ollie's commitment to family extended beyond his wife; he was a proud father to four children: Deanna (Mark) Steinke of Yorkville, IL; Steve (Marybeth) Pierce of Yorkville, IL; Sandy (the late Jim) Ramey of Oswego, IL; and Randy (Colleen) Pierce of Oswego, IL. His legacy of love continues through his grandchildren: Kim (Josh) Woodson, Matt (Jessica) Ramey, Gary (Vanessa) Pierce, Eric (Amanda) Pierce, Michelle Neale, and Stephanie Pierce, as well as his 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and sister Wilma Patula.
Ollie's career spanned many years, beginning as a meat cutter for Bohns Food Store, where he dedicated 25 years of his life before retiring from the Oswego School District 308. His work ethic and dedication to his jobs reflected the values instilled in him from a young age.
A proud veteran, Ollie served in the United States Air Force. His military service laid the foundation for his lasting commitment to his community, demonstrated by his 68-year membership in the Oswego American Legion Post #675. Ollie was not only a member but an active participant, regularly attending national conventions and fostering camaraderie among fellow veterans.
In addition to his community involvement, Ollie had a passion for life that was evident in his various hobbies. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards, particularly poker, often gathering with friends and family to share in these activities. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively, creating cherished memories along the way.
Ollie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brona Lu, and his brothers Walter, Russell, and Bernell, as well as his sisters Emma, Mary, Laura, and Vivian. He leaves behind a family that cherished him deeply and will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
