Norman L. Lycke, age 86, of Oswego, IL, formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born March 6, 1932, in Boone, IA, the son of Frank and Pearl (nee Smalley) Lycke.
Norm graduated from Boone High School, Boone, IA, with the class of 1950. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1954 as a Yeoman, Second Class. He then attended University of Iowa, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Business/Distribution and coursework in Marketing. For a majority of his professional career, he worked as a distribution manager for McNeil Pharmaceutical from 1972-1997. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, enjoyed fishing and playing bridge at the Oswego Senior Center, and was a passionate supporter of his grandchildren's sports and marching band activities. He was a loyal member of the Villas of Southbury Friday Morning Breakfast Club.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years Carleta "Corky" Lycke; children Bruce (Pam) Vrbenec, Kris Lycke, Bryan (Terri) Vrbenec, Kara (Christopher Connelly) Lycke, and Andy (Erin) Lycke; grandchildren David, Matthew (Jennifer), Brandon, Nick, Drew and Brittany Vrbenec, and Ciaran Connelly; step-grandchildren Stephanie (Michael) Gleissner, Nikki Koren, and Nicholas Smith; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Viola Lycke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Geneva (Bob) Wilson, and brothers Leonard and Loren.
