Nicholas C. "The King" Kies, Sr., 82, of Montgomery, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 27, 2020. He was born May 14, 1937 in Aurora, Illinois to the late Theron and Theresa nee Buchner Kies. Nick established the Boys Club of Montgomery, and was a member of the Aurora Bowling Association Hall of Fame, Aurora Turner's Club, Phoenix Club and the Lucky 50 Fishing Club. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Nick was a mason for the Local Bricklayers Union 27 for 45 years. He later managed Highway Lanes in Aurora and Batavia Bowl in Batavia. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary nee Schober Kies; children John Kies, Ann Young (J.C. Cartee), Joe (Sarah) Kies and Nicholas (Jenny) Kies, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several in-laws and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Gladys Smotzer; a son, Charles Hall; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
