Narciso P. Ligunas

August 17, 1947 – March 11, 2025

Narciso P. Ligunas, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Filomena D. Ligunas, and his two sons, Mark and Michael (Carrie) Ligunas. His legacy and cherished memories will live on through his grandchildren: Mark Jr., Gabriella Joy, Thomas Maxwell, Logan Michael, and Camden Hawk.

Narciso was born and raised in the Philippines and was the youngest of three. When he was employed with Bataan Refining Company, he was introduced to Filomena by his co-office mate, and fell in love. Filomena was petitioned by her brother to come to the US, and Narciso waited for her, and they got married on June 17, 1978, in the Philippines.

In 1979, they made the bold decision to move to Chicago, where Narciso began his career in Accounting and Finance. A later move to Berwyn, IL, turned him into a daily Metra commuter, where his co-workers often called out "Nar" or "Nars" just to see his smile and hear his signature chuckle.

He had a passion for road trips, always packing a small cooler for the journey and carefully mapping out routes on the hood of his Chevy Blazer. Narciso never shied away from a friendly conversation with a stranger and remained a lifelong Chicago sports fan.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Marissa Joyce, and grandson, John.

Narciso's warmth, laughter, and love for adventure will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday March 21st, 10:00 AM, at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Narciso's name.
