Naomi A Vatland went home to the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021 from the farm where she had resided for 73 years. She was born to Oscar and Alma Kollmann of Yorkville, IL on Jan 21, 1925. She enjoyed working the farm alongside her Dad and caring for the livestock. In 1948 she married Merton Bromeland and continued to enjoy the country life as she and Merton farmed. Her life was happily centered around raising their two children, gardening, canning, and helping with the crops. Merton passed away in March of 1967 after a short battle with cancer. In 1971 Naomi married Ted Vatland. Traveling became a big part of their life together, including several trips to Norway to visit relatives and sightseeing in all but 5 states in the US. Spoiling and caring for her grandchildren brought her great joy. Every grandchild lovingly received their first crocheted blanket from Grandma. Naomi loved to bake and crochet and countless people have been blessed by her gifts of blankets and goodies. Generosity and caring for others were central to Naomi's life. Throughout her life, she was active in the church, being brought up, baptized and confirmed at Cross Lutheran Church, Yorkville, where her Uncle was the Pastor. As an adult she especially treasured her involvement with her Bible study circle and quilting group. She was currently a member of Helmar Lutheran Church. Naomi spent many years preparing taxes for those in the community. Even into her 80's she would attend school each year to be certain she was up to date with the current rules and regulations. She was very sad when it was time for her to fully retire. Naomi is survived by her children, Joyce (Bob) Andrejack, Tom (Mary) Bromeland; grandchildren Robert (Crystal) Ringhofer, Amy (Kurt) Kaufmann, Andrew (Jennifer) Bromeland, Alexander Bromeland, and Aaron Bromeland. Great grandchildren, Jackson, Riley, and Audrey Ringhofer, Autumn Kaufmann, Kate, Ella, and Lily Bromeland as well as many nieces and nephews. Naomi is also survived by Ted's children, Jeanette (Bill) Leslie, Wendell (Sylvia) Vatland, and Karen (Wayne – deceased) Reibel. Thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merton Bromeland, her husband Ted Vatland, her sister and brother-in-law Erna (Bert) Henne, her brother and sister-in-law Ernie (DeAnn) Kollmann, and great great granddaughter Ashlynn Blacklaw and numerous family members.
