Nancy L. Schuler, 81 of Oswego, IL joined the Lord on Sunday, July 31st, 2022 in the presence of family. She was born August 11th, 1940 in Plano, IL and is one of twelve children of the late William R. and Elnora (Pearce) Burks. Growing up on a farm in Yorkville with that many children, there wasn't a lot of extra money but there was always an abundance of love and fun. Nancy and her siblings spent a lot of their time in a man-made swimming hole and playing baseball. It wasn't hard to find teammates when you are one of twelve children. When Nancy was 18 years old, she met Tom. They dated for a short period of time before they were married. Tom and Nancy always had fun together, enjoying dancing and spending time with friends. Nancy would even ride along with Tom when he raced cars at the Oswego racetrack. They later had three children together whom they raised in Oswego. While raising her children she acquired the love of tennis; and through this sport she met some amazing life-long friends, played in tournaments, and won many trophies. When her children were in their teenage years Nancy decided to go to beauty school. After graduation, Nancy's husband built an addition onto their home and made a salon for her. Nancy worked in her salon until she took in her mother whom she cared for for the next five years. This was one of many loving examples of the selfless person she was to her family. Through all the trials and tribulations of life, Nancy found the Lord and was saved. God became the center of her life. She joined the Methodist church where she participated in Bible studies, prayer groups, volunteer work, and even travelled to Haiti on a mission trip at 71 years old which was a life-changing experience for her. If you ask any of Nancy's family they will tell you that she was a true example of a prayer warrior. By sticking by her faith and teaching others Christ's love she brought many of her family and friends to the Lord. She was also one of the most generous and loving people. She loved making memories with her family and spending quality time with them. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Nadine Glass of Sugar Grove, IL; her son, Phillip Schuler of Dallas, TX; 4 granddaughters: Jordan (Tony) Glass, Andrea (Brandon) Paus, Kelly Schuler and Jillian (Jamie) Prodehl; 6 great grandchildren: Layla, Chase, Ellie, Beckett, Peyton, and Hayden; 3 sisters, Elnora Schuler of Aurora, IL, Hazel Smith of Oswego, IL and Marge Zieter of Florida; 2 brothers, James (Judy) Burks of Hinkley, IL and William (Carol) Burks of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Thomas L. Schuler; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Sharon Schuler; 2 sisters, Barbara Burks and Helen Markham; and 4 brothers, Donald Burks, John Burks, Gerald Burks and Robert Burks. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Sunday, August 21st, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-6pm with service immediately following at Wellspring United Methodist Church, 1217 Wolf Road, Oswego, IL 60543 with Pastor Corey Ashley officiating.
