Muriel Delores Robinson (née Devick) died peacefully at her home in Newark, Illinois, on Friday, December 4, 2015, at the age of 94. She was born on September 30, 1921, in Plattville, Illinois, to Randall and Julia Devick.
Muriel was united in marriage on August 22, 1942, to Wylie W. Robinson, and they spent nearly 55 years of married life together, raising their family and farming in Kendall County, until Wylie's passing on July 24, 1997.
Muriel is survived by her children, Charles (Sally) Robinson of Minooka; Cindy Robinson of Newark; and Wesley (Linda Webster) Robinson of Antioch, CA; grandchildren Delores (Patrick Stevens) Robinson of Morris; Belinda (Dan) Hill of Minooka; Ashley (Brian D'Amico) Martin-Robinson of Hampton, NH; Cali Robinson of Stockton, CA; Kyla Robinson who is serving in the Peace Corps in Ghana; and Craig Robinson of Antioch, CA; along with siblings Alverna Munson of Newark; Randall (Donna) Devick, Jr. of Morris; and Royce (Gayle) Devick of Oak Brook. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Emma Hill, Paulie Robinson-Stevens, Nathan Hill, Charlie "C.J." Hill, Simone Robinson-Stevens, Hudson Hill, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Wylie; her sister Maureen Cryder and Maureen's husband, Francis; her brother Lyle Devick and Lyle's wife, Doris; her brother-in-law Earl Robinson and Earl's wife, Alice; her sister-in-law Betty Muladore and Betty's husband, Jim; an infant sister, Elsie Mae; and several nieces and nephews.
Muriel graduated from Yorkville High School and then Copley School of Nursing in Aurora, Illinois. She worked as a nurse for many years for Dr. Lowry and Dr. Tzanetakos and even after her retirement, she remained good friends with the doctors and her valued co-workers. Muriel's parents instilled in their children the love of music, and all her life, Muriel enjoyed listening to her large music collection, especially sacred and classical music. Additionally, she enjoyed nature and bird watching out her breakfast window. Muriel was an avid reader who, until her health declined in recent years, enjoyed keeping up with her family and friends through letters and phone calls. She was a life-long and active member of Helmar Lutheran Church. Muriel was devoted above all to her family and her Lord, Jesus Christ, and she will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd., Newark, IL with Pastor James Molstre officiating.
