MICHAEL C. STECHER January 20, 1963 - October 6, 2016 Michael "Road Captain" Charles Stecher, 53, of Sheridan passed Thursday, October 6, 2016 at OSF St. Elisabeth Medical Center. Mike was born January 20, 1963 in Sandwich to Charles & Gladys Stecher. He was a graduate of Serena High School. He was united in marriage July 15, 1999 in Ottawa to Brenda Teel. He had been a truck driver for the L.S. Garrow Sand & Gravel in Sheridan and for many years was a truck driver for the National Tractor Parts Co. in Plano. He is survived by his wife Brenda of Sheridan; his mother Gladys Stecher of Ottawa; two sisters, Mary (Bob) Kacmarcik of Imuris, AZ, Susan Powers of Glendale, AZ, two brothers, James (Dianne) Stecher of Greenfield, IN, and Ronald (Kathy) Stecher of Upland, CA: four stepchildren, Chris Hoffer of Washington, IL, Malissa Rowell of Peoria, Leanna (John) Kelley of Chillicothe, Dan Hoffer of East Peoria and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15th with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd in Sheridan. Services will be officiated by his close friend Michael Gunier. Memorials may be directed to the family or the Sheridan United Methodist Church.
