Michael Anthony O'Toole, 49, of Oswego, Illinois passed away at home surrounded by his family July 29, 2026. Born on November 5, 1976, to Mary Anne Angone (McGreal) and Michael O'Toole, Mike lived his entire life with love, adventure, curiosity, and an intense sense of appreciation for everything the world had to offer.

Mike was a loving husband of 24 years to his wife, Rose, his college sweetheart, and a proud father to their three children: Bridget, Patrick, and Sean. His love for his family is never ending. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary Anne and Ron Angone; his sisters Bridget (Patula) and Jeanine (O'Toole-Johannpeter) and their respective husbands Kevin and Josh. His mother-in law, Mary Warren; and his brother and sister in-law, Tim and Chrissy Warren. Mike was also a loving uncle to Emily, Molly, and Caitlin Patula, as well as Joseph, Timothy, and Maddie Warren, and countless cousins. Mike is now joined by the company of his father, Michael O'Toole; father in-law, Danny Warren; his brother in-law Matthew Warren; and his dear friend Kevin John Dennis.

Mike faced no shortage of hobbies. Always grilling, hiking, Crossfitting, jiujitsuing, and bike collecting, but what he enjoyed most was time with his family. The O'Tooles spent an innumerable amount of time outdoors together, from the Tetons to Colorado to Grandma's cottage in Michigan. There were constant backyard games and jam bands and movie nights together. Mike was at every swim meet, every baseball, basketball, and football game. He was the ultimate sports dad, often reminding the crowd that "we're all just here to have fun and get some exercise".

Mike will be remembered as the best cook, a voice of reason, Mr. Safety, and the best firestick dancer. He was a shoulder to cry on and a push when needed. Mike also loved spending time with his friends. He was the most exuberant storyteller and loved to laugh with the Rovers, with Kelly and Ed, and with the Garrisons.

Mike worked at Neuqua Valley for 23 years. He was a history teacher, basketball coach, a ka dean, and finally an assistant principal. Mike helped countless students, families, and coworkers. He always bragged about working with and learning from the best staff, many who have become lifelong friends.

Mike's athletic endeavors were a staple in his life. Mike was always training for something, whether it be his own seemingly impossible goal, or the nearest Crossfit competition. Mike pushed us all to do hard things and be strong people; we always will be thankful to him. His highlights include long runs in Saw Wee Kee, the Chicago Marathon, recreating a full Iron Man at home when the official one was canceled, and a favorite of the kids': guarding Kevin Garnett in a summer league game.

There are not enough words to describe the wonders of Mike O'Toole, may he be remembered with love and laughs by all who loved and laughed with him.
