It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Charles "Mike" Kratzer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. Mike passed away on June 8, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on January 23, 1963, he resided in Newark, Illinois. Mike was the cherished son of Charles and Margaret (Rees) Kratzer. He is now reunited with his father, Charles, in eternal rest.

Mike's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for family. He spent his career as a truck driver, proudly serving the Jacobson family trucking businesses. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mike was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church in Newark, Illinois. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, snowmobiling, and boating. Mike belonged to the Northwest Illinois Chapter of the Antique Truck Historical Society where Mike loved telling stories and sharing his Grandpa's trucks at many shows and events. He was also a founding member of the Newark Street Machine Association.

His love for trucks and everything trucking related, was only rivaled by his devotion to his family, with whom he cherished every moment.

He is survived by his wife, Terry (Pinkstaff-Prombo), who stood by his side for 36 years. Mike leaves behind their children, daughter Monica (Kevin) Stewart of Chillicothe, IL and son Matt (Jen Nelson) Prombo of Burlington, WA, who carry forward his legacy of love and integrity. His adoring grandchildren, Josh and Addy Stewart, were the light of his life, and he found immense joy in watching them grow. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret (Rees) Kratzer, and his brother, Tom (Lori) Kratzer, with whom he shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond. The same is true of his nephews Kenneth Kratzer of Newark and Jon Kratzer (Hallie) of Marion, Iowa. Mike is also survived by his Aunts Sandy and Myrna and numerous cousins who have enjoyed a strong relationship through the years. His many childhood friends and buddies were always a necessary part of his life.

His Mother-in-law Kay Pinkstaff and sisters-in-law Barb and Cindy also survive. His Father-in-law Robert Pinkstaff preceded him in death.

In honor of Mike's life, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Newark Lutheran Church.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 10:00 AM until a memorial service at 12:00 PM followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall at Newark Lutheran Church, 101 E. Liberty Street, Newark, IL. 60541. Burial of his urn will take place at Millington-Newark Cemetery at a later time by the family. For information: 630/554-3888 or www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
