IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Lee
Henley
August 5, 1958 – September 1, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Lee Henley, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on September 1, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on August 5, 1958, in Aurora, Illinois, Michael lived a full life, surrounded by love and supported by his cherished family and friends.
Michael was the son of Richard L. and Pauline M. Steele Henley, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Christopher Henley. Growing up, he shared a bond with his siblings, and he is survived by his sister, Michelle Torres, and his brothers, Timothy Henley and Anthony Henley. Together, they created countless memories that shaped the man Michael became.
As a draftsman, Michael dedicated his career to his craft, demonstrating a remarkable work ethic and a passion for precision. He worked for Industrial Enclosure Corp. for 46 years. His keen eye for detail was a hallmark of his professional life, earning him respect among colleagues and clients alike. While he may have found joy in his work, it was his family that brought him the greatest happiness.
Michael was a devoted father to his daughters, Rachel (Derrick) Smith and Sarah Diller, and he took immense pride in being a grandfather to his grandchildren: Payton Cottingham, Jackson Cottingham, Derrick Smith, Jr., and Gwen Smith. He found joy in every moment spent with them, whether it was attending their events or simply sharing laughter during family gatherings. The love he had for his daughters and grandchildren was immeasurable, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will endure through them. He is also survived by his best friend and fishing buddy James Knopp.
In addition to his family, Michael had a myriad of interests and hobbies that filled his life with joy. Though he often preferred to keep a low profile, those who knew him well understood the warmth and humor that he brought to every interaction.
