Melissa Ann Wood, 68, of Newark, IL, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on February 26, 2022. She was born on April 22, 1953 to Walker and Dorothy (Ricketts) Rainey. Melissa's occupation was focused on hospitality and healthcare. Melissa was a nurturing and loving grandmother and great grandmother; she devoted her time to raising many generations in her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading and puzzles. Melissa had a deep love for dogs, her very own sidekick is named Star. She is survived by her children Rickie Long and Jon Wood. Grandchildren Danny Wood, Jessica Monica, Ashley Boring, Christopher Koldjay, Gracelyn, Dorothy, Beatrice, and Francine Wood. Great grandchildren Dylan Wood, Connor Wood, Reylee Wood, and Emma Jo Boring. Melissa is preceded by her sister Dee Hultz and her parents Walker Rainey and Dorothy Ricketts.
