Mary Ann Wagner, age 80 of Montgomery, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Montgomery, IL.

She was born March 23, 1942 the daughter of Walter and Eva nee Mertes Downey.

Mary Ann taught special education starting her career in Ottawa, IL and retiring from Oswego School District 308 in 2005. In her retirement, she taught ESL for the Dominican Literacy Center in Aurora, IL. She enjoyed quilting in her quilting group in Oswego, IL and was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was the center of her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years (they had known each other for 75 years) Edward H. Wagner, son Robert (Sanchita) Wagner of Rhode Island, daughter Debbie (Ed) Ensor of Sheridan, IL, grandchildren Erica (Caleb) Adrian, Ryan Ensor, brother Bill Downey, special niece Tammy Mehalic, brother-in-law David Wagner and several nieces and nephews, and special friend Pat Brokaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, Jack and Jim Downey.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Spring Valley, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Dominican Literacy Center, 260 Vermont Avenue, Aurora, IL 60505.
