Mary Ann Gray, 79, of Evanston, IL, died suddenly on February 14, 2015, of cardiac arrest. Born to Peter and Irene Ready in Appleton, WI, she attended DePaul University's nursing school in Chicago, IL, where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1955. After starting her successful nursing career in Wisconsin, she married and gave birth to two beautiful daughters and four sons along with an additional daughter after relocating to Chicago, IL, with her husband, Robert Gray.
A devout Christian with unwavering faith in God, Mary Ann loved God and her children strongly, always proud of her seven children and their accomplishments. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, gardening, dining out and political debate, where she was never shy in sharing her perspective. Mary Ann will be missed by all her living children, her three daughters, Carrie, Lynne and Tina, and her sons, Robert, John and Benjamin, along with her eleven beautiful grandchildren.
Funeral services and a private burial next to her youngest son, Samuel were held at the Oswego Township cemetery on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. CST in Oswego, IL, with the Rev. Phil Sheets officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
