Beth A. Martin died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beth was born in Oak Park, IL on Aug. 19, 1964 to Clark K. and Shirley A. (nee Eilken) Dickenscheidt. She grew up in Hoffman Estates and received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University in River Forest, IL. Beth married David Martin on August 22, 1987 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, IL. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Cynthia, Katherine, Brenda, and William, all of Oswego. Beth is also survived by her husband David; parents, Clark and Shirley Dickenscheidt; three brothers, Clark (Megan) Dickenscheidt of Katy, Texas, Todd (Sandra) Dickenscheidt of Richmond, Virginia, and Dennis Dickenscheidt of East Dundee, IL; aunt Judy (George Behrens) Eilken of St. Louis; brother-in-law Ronald (Beth) Martin, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beth was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, before moving to Oswego, Illinois in 2011 and becoming a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Aurora. She loved God and was an active and faithful member of her church community, enjoyed choir and Bible study groups, and supported many church ministries. Beth was also involved with every activity her children participated in, including volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, soccer coach, trip chaperone, school fund-raiser, and marching band supporter. Beth loved scrapbooking, photography, quilting, gardening, camping, and working with children. She was an avid photographer and scrapbooker, creating a variety of scrapbooks to preserve her family's photos. She also made many beautiful quilts and was a member of Prairie Star Quilt Guild, St. Charles, IL. But most of all, she loved taking care of her family and keeping a welcoming home for her husband, children, relatives and friends. Visitation will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 85 S. Constitution Dr., Aurora, IL., Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Cremation will be accorded the wish of the family at American Crematory in Oswego, IL.
