MARTHA E. SHRODE August 7, 1925 - March 5, 2019 Martha Ellen Shrode, 93, of Mendota formerly of Sheridan passed Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019 at Heritage Health Care in Mendota. Martha was born August 7, 1925 in Mounds, Il. To Lowell & Theresa (Richardson) Cook. She was joined in marriage to John Denzil Shrode on August 22, 1944 in Cairo, IL. John passed November 5, 2011. Martha was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church and had worked for over 30 years as a secretary for the Sheridan Grade School. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Allen) Miller of Mendota; her two sons, Jerry Shrode of Woodland Park, CO, John (Connie) Shrode of Fort Collins, CO; her daughter in-law, Kendra Shrode of Midland, MI; six grandchildren, Dr. Lamara Shrode, Blake Shrode, Bart (Nancy) Shrode, Lindsey (Robert) Thompson, Shelley Shrode, Haley Shrode and eight great grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a son, Larry Shrode; three brothers, Lowell Cook Jr., Franklin Cook. Melvin Cook and a sister, Helen Cook-Holderfield. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10th at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. 333 W. Church St. Sheridan, IL, 60551. Phone 815-496-2003.
