MARJORIE R. NELSON

Marjorie Ruth Nelson, 84, of Serena passed Wednesday morning, November 30, 2016 at the Valley West Community Hospital.
Marjorie was born May 31, 1932 near Ottawa to Henry and Ida (Funfsinn) Pitstick. She married Gerald Nelson June 19, 1954 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa and had worked many years with Gerald at the Nelson Brothers Garage. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wedron and the Right to Life Org. She had been very active with the LaSalle County 4-H organization and was a leader of the Lads & Lassies 4-H Club and had ran the Red Cross Blood Drives in Serena. She was also a member of the Folk Valley Square Dance Group, the Serena Ladies Aid and the Oldsmobile & Chrysler Car Clubs.
She is survived by her husband Gerald; her four children, Jane (Mike) Bowers of Naperville, Donald (Don) Nelson of Serena, Ruth (Ed) Worthington of Madison, MS, Sue (Tony) Duffy of Darien; eight grandchildren, Courtney (Phil) Becker, Adam Nelson, Chad Worthington, Ashley (J.C. Cervantes) Worthington, Joshua Duffy, Samantha Duffy, Zachary Duffy, Lucas Duffy; two great grandchildren, Iain Worthington, Aiden Becker; a sister, Paula (Arden) Chapple of Spokane WA, three brothers, Bud (Betty) Pitstick of Ottawa, Vince Pitstick of Ottawa and Ed (Bette) Pitstick of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild; ten brothers & sisters, Edmund Pitstick, Rose Tyler, Mae Alexander, Bernard Pitstick, Larry Pitstick, Zita Alexander, Sr. Rita Pitstick, Lottie Stallings, Richard Pitstick and Marilyn Hanusik.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4th at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Sheridan. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Waugh officiating. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk.
Pallbearers will be Courtney Becker, Adam Nelson, Ashley Worthington, Joshua Duffy, Zachary Duffy and Lucas Duffy.
