Marilyn Suzanne Marklein, age 93, of Oswego, IL peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at The Reserve of Oswego. She was born September 8, 1928 in Oswego, IL, the daughter of Jeffery and Margaret nee Davis Rogerson. Marilyn attended the Little White School, the Red Brick School and graduated from Oswego High School in 1946, and from Gregg Business College in Chicago. She was employed as a legal secretary in Aurora, IL, for 25 years starting with John S. Petersen (Judge) and Zalmon Goldsmith, later known as the firm of Goldsmith, Dyer, Thelin, Schiller & Dickson, and was secretary to Attorney Goldsmith. Marilyn was a member of Oswego Presbyterian Church, joining in 1940 and served her church in many ways throughout her lifetime. She served as Deacon, Ordained Elder and Clerk of Session. She was a life member of Oswego Heritage Association (Little White School) serving first as secretary from 1975-85. She enjoyed fundraising events to benefit the renovation of the building, co-chairing an Antique Show, Quilt Show and Toy Show. She was also a member of Kendall County Republican Women, past Precinct Committeewoman, fundraising events, and political mailings. She was the past president of the Oswego Women's Civic Club, Girl scout leader, volunteer work at Lyon's Farm and activities at Dickson-Murst Farm. She opened her first antique shop in 1976 in Oswego and did shows and collecting for many years. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers. In 1993 Marilyn and her husband built a home in Florida and enjoyed living there until 2002, returning back to Illinois to be closer to family. She is survived by her daughter Jane (Ken) Wolf; she enjoyed being grandmother to Troy (Renae Lawson) Wolf and Trent Wolf; and had a close relationship with many loving nieces and nephews, sister in laws Joy Rogerson and Pat (Freeman) Rogerson, brother-in-law Robert (Mona) Marklein, special friend Reta Bohn, Chaplin Joe Newton of Angels Grace Hospice and his late therapy dog Mizuno. Special thanks to The Reserve of Oswego for all their wonderful care and love for so many years. A huge thank you to Angels Grace Hospice for making this a peaceful journey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred in 2008; infant daughter Jill Ann in 1956; sister Jeanne Carlton and brothers Robert "Jeff" Rogerson and David Rogerson. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM until a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Oswego Presbyterian Church, 1976 IL Rt. 25, Oswego, IL 60543. Private burial of the urn will take place in the spring. Memorials may be made to the Little White School, P.O.
