Marie Mende, age 94 of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and care of her Daughter Robin and Grandcat PoohBear on Friday, June 27, 2026 at home. She was born in Oak Park, IL, the Daughter of the (late) Leslie C. Armour and Mary E. Armour. Marie was united in marriage in April of 1956 to William J. Mende, Jr and together they had four children, Robin, Brian (Kelly) , Lisa (Scott) Smith and the (late) William L. Mende. She was a loving Mom, Daughter, Wife, Aunt , Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister; who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by; Her children and spouses Robin, Brian (Kelly), Lisa (Scott); her Grandchildren Amy (Dave) Vedra, Melissa Mende, Eric (Rebecca) Smith, Sam (Shallyn) Mende; Great-grandchildren Jordan, Madison, Judah, Isaiah, Jett and Slate who all brought much joy and happiness as well as her younger sister Dorothy (Jerry) Ethridge and several nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Marie overwhelming showed strength and resilience, even amidst significant loss of family that preceded her. She was a woman who loved unconditionally and lived selflessly for those she cared about. She was someone who truly embodied the values of love and kindness.

Although our hearts ache from the loss of our beloved Mom, we choose to remember and celebrate her life, her love, and the wonderful memories she left behind. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Marie's faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior gave her the peace to know she was going to be with the Lord. While we as a family will miss her on earth, we are for sure she is alive and living her best life as we will all be together soon and very soon.
