Marie G. Cook, age 94, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Seasons Hospice Center in Naperville, IL. She was born September 17, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Lilian Grotz. Marie was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle, IL. She was very active at the senior centers in Downers Grove and Lisle, IL, where she loved playing poker, pinochle and bingo. She was active in the Girl Scouts of America and the Boys & Girls Club of America. She was the most amazing woman, mommy, G-ma, great-G-ma, the world could ever be blessed with. She is survived by her daughter Loraine (Jeffrey) Weigerding of Aurora, IL, grandchildren Laura Eskridge of Aurora, IL, Michael (Kelly) Gomez of Oswego, IL, great-grandchildren Jasmin Orbes of Aurora, IL, Michael Gomez, Jr. of Oswego, IL, Darryl Eskridge of Aurora, IL and Liyah Gomez of Oswego, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband O. L. Cook, son Bill Cook and a brother Robert (Carol) Grotz. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:15 AM at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4913 Columbia Ave., Lisle, IL 60532.
