Marian Eloise Toftoy, 97, of Newark passed Thursday evening, June 21, 2018 at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa.           Marian was born April 23, 1921. Living with her parents, Oscar and Tena (Newtson) Knutson on their family farm in Newark she attended Newark Schools and graduated from Newark High School in 1939, the second class to graduate at the "new" Newark High School.           Upon graduation Marian worked at United Wallpaper Inc. in Montgomery as a clerical secretary. She was united in marriage to Harold Arthur Toftoy, February 6, 1949 at the Newark Lutheran Church. They spent their 65 years together farming until Harold's passing March 12, 2014. Marian was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and lead children's choir. She also loved to garden and shared her bounty with family & friends.           She leaves behind her son Robert Harold (Cynthia) Toftoy of Newark; a grandson, Trenton Robert Toftoy of Newark; sisters in-law, Jean Toftoy, Eleanor Helland; brothers in-law, Clarence Toftoy, Bennie Helland; nieces, nephews and childhood friends, Doris Olson, JoAnn Olson and Wayne Olson.           She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; three brothers in-law, Orrin Toftoy, Ralph Toftoy, Norman Toftoy; four sisters in-law, Darlene Toftoy, Joan Toftoy, Jane Toftoy and Mary Jane Toftoy.           Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Newark Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 101 E. Liberty St. Newark, IL, 60541. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church with Pastor Steve Lombardo officiating.
