With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Rios, who left us peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 46. Born on November 13, 1979, in Mexico, Maria's journey through life was marked by her vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends.

Maria was a beacon of joy, always smiling and embodying an independent spirit that inspired those around her. She had a special way of making everyone feel cherished, particularly her beloved nieces and nephews, who adored their "Tía Maria." Her love extended to her children, Jesus Ayala and Katia (Miguel) Delgado, who were the light of her life. She took tremendous pride in their accomplishments and was their biggest supporter in every endeavor.

Maria is survived by her devoted parents, Camilo Rios and Vicky Favela, who instilled in her the values of love and perseverance. She leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings: Hortencia (Marcelo) Ayala, Rosa (Rafael) Ramirez, Mayra (Dustin) Goetz, and Juan (Dulce) Rios. Maria's familial bonds were strong, and she maintained close relationships with her many nieces and nephews, each of whom brought her immense joy and happiness.

While Maria dedicated herself to her family, her hobbies brought her immense joy; she had a passion for dancing, often filling the room with her laughter and energy. Friends and family will fondly remember her lively spirit on the dance floor, where she brought people together with her infectious joy.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving grandfather, Florencio Favela, as well as her aunt, Elena Rios, and uncle, Guillermo Rios. Their memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Maria for her unwavering spirit, her kindness, and her capacity to light up any room she entered. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts as a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 10:00 AM at St. Therese of Jesus Catholic Church, 217 North Farnsworth Avenue, Aurora, IL 60505. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
