Lloyd V. Gunning, age 95, of Montgomery, IL, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at his residence. He was born February 24, 1926 in Neponset, IL, the son of George and Ruby nee Holmes Gunning. Lloyd proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army as a PFC with Company E, 104th Infantry, where he saw action in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns that earned him two Bronze Battle Stars. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Lloyd worked as a welder for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Montgomery, IL. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. He is survived by his brother-in-law William (Mary) Blazier of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law Jan Blazier of FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Phyllis in 2017; and a brother-in-law, Jack Blazier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:30 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL. Arrangements were entrusted to DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL 60543.
