Lillian Rose Hiwot Marcoux returned to our Heavenly Father on July 3, 2024, after a courageous lifelong battle with several medical conditions to include Cystic Fibrosis.

She was born on August 8, 2007, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and adopted by Patrick and Jane Marcoux of Oswego in October 2008.

To know Lily was to know love. In spite of her medical challenges, she positively affected those around her with a contagious smile, silly jokes, and appreciation of the small joys in life. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her siblings. She taught her family and so many others the value of patience, understanding and unconditional love. She brought out the best in us, and the world was a better place because she was here.

Lily and her family were blessed with the loving support of several one-on-one caregivers throughout her life, as well as the support of numerous doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists, especially the staff at Rush University Medical Center. They also benefitted from the help of several organizations to include the Marklund Day School-Geneva, Elim School, Children's Research Triangle (Camp SOAR), District 308 Stars Program, Jill's House-Windy City, the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, and Little Friends.

Lily is survived by her parents, Patrick and Jane Marcoux of Oswego; her cherished siblings: Patrick Marcoux Jr (Emma Wilkinson) of Chicago, Brigid Marcoux (Zach Baker) of Joliet, Helen Marcoux of Chicago, and Claire, Eleanor, and Thomas Marcoux of Oswego; her grandparents: Richard and Kathy Bishop of Bradenton, Florida and Harold and Kathleen Marcoux of Oswego; her god parents Larry and Anne Marie Lillwitz of Aurora; and scores of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Lily packed a lot of life into a short period of time. She is dearly missed, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now among the angels.
