LEON E. LITZELMAN
November 25, 1923 - November 30, 2015
Leon Eben Litzelman, 92, of Newark passed Monday, November 30, 2015 at Valley West Community Hospital.
Leon was born November 25, 1923 in Sandwich to Leo Louis & Ester (Beck) Litzelman. He entered the US Army in 1942 as a tank crewman and served in the North Africa, Italian and Southern France Campaigns and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received. On January 11, 1945 he married Helen Wolf. Helen passed July 30, 2010. Leon was a design engineer in Chicago for 24 years and then an assembler at the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Montgomery.
He is survived by his daughter, Leanne (Jerry) Junkins of Goose Creek, South Carolina; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; a daughter, Pamela May Iverson; a son, James Edward Litzelman and a grandson, Joseph Litzelman.
According to his wishes his cremains will be interred at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery with military honors.
