Ruth A. Larson, 91, of rural Newark died Sunday morning July 13, 2014 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion. Ruth was born December 9, 1922 in Sandwich to Julius L. & Minnie (Boyd) Way. She was a graduate of the Newark Grade & High Schools. She married Simon C. Larson February 20, 1941 in Newark. Simon passed January 2, 1992. She was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing at church services. She was very proud and fond of the 50 years she spent together with Simon on the farm north of Newark. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Robert) Wickens of Millbrook; her two sons, Simon Jay (Kathy) Larson of Newark, Jerry Larson of Newark; her six grandchildren, Greg (Jacki) Wickens of Seneca, Matt (Jill) Wickens of Morris, Amy Larson of Newark, Kristy (Rob) Robertson of Anamosa, IA., Jenny (Doug) Reibel of Newark, Amanda Larson of Newark; seven great grandchildren, Brianna Yepsen, Dalton & Cole Reibel, Ruby & Simon Robertson, Macy & Avery Wickens and a great-great grandson, Brantley Yepsen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Simon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL., 60541-0623, phone 815-695-5131. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Newark Lutheran Church with Pastor Luke Emerson officiating. Interment will be at the West Lisbon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Wickens, Matt Wickens, Clyde Larson, Kevin Larson, Doug Reibel and Rob Robertson.
