Larry Stanley Madlo, age 71, of Montgomery, IL, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 2, 1950 in Watertown, SD, the son of Stanley Arnold and Agnes Lucile Ulven Madlo. Larry proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1973 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1976. He was stationed in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Following his service, Larry was employed by Conagra Foods (Smithfield) for 39 years. He started in the pepperoni line and worked up to the loading dock of cold meats. He loved listening to western music and the oldies. Always warning his life partner Anna with a laugh and a smile that if she didn't behave, he would "play Buck Owens on you!" His favorite pastime was taking Anna on random car trips to discover new surroundings. He had a soft spot for his partner and life's little moments, like drying the dishes and sharing the days events together kept their bond tight. He was very involved in AMVETS Post #103 in Aurora, IL and American Legion Post #84 in Aurora, IL, having served as Commander of both. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in North Aurora, IL. Larry battled Parkinson's with Lewy Body dementia since 2013, with his Parkinson's staying steady, but the Lewy Body dementia progressed very quickly. In the last year of his life he loved to sleep on the front or back enclosed porch where he could still enjoy the outdoors without the bugs. He is survived by his life partner Anna P. Nelson, siblings Diane Tvedt of S.D., Brenda Kranz of MN and Kevin Madlo of S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services will be private. Inurnment will take place with full military honors at a future date in South Dakota. Arrangements have been entrusted to DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. For information: 630/554-3888 or www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
