Herbert J. Lantz, Sr., age 97, of Oswego, IL died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his residence with his loving granddaughter Karen LeClercq at his side. He was born April 6, 1917 in Aurora, IL the son of the late James I and Anna M nee Holzhueter Lantz. Herb had served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and had worked 42 years as a machinist at Thor Power Tool Co in Aurora, IL prior to its closing. He had worked 15 years for the Village of Oswego issuing building permits and doing inspections for many years. He was always involved in metal recovery and recycling in the area up until his last days on earth. He enjoyed football and spending time in the morning with his friends having coffee at the Riverview Café in Montgomery, IL. He is survived by a daughter Shirley (Robert) LeClercq of Oswego, IL, a son Herbert J Lantz, Jr of Belleville, IL also by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and special friends Ed and Mary Ann Wagner. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy L nee Renner, a daughter Rita Wolf, sister Esther Hershey, brother Wilfred Lantz and very dear friend Mary Underwood. Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 am St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery, IL with Rev Phil Sheets officiating.
