Ken Vanek, age 70, passed away on July 9, 2021 in Oswego, IL
Beloved husband of the late Darlene Vanek, Ken is survived by his daughter, Lori Vanek of Darien, IL and son, Scott (Nicole) Vanek of Marietta, GA. He was a loving grandfather to Victoria Cannici and Caden and Braylon Vanek. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Judy Strzelecki, was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and "Papa V" to many friends.
Ken was born to the late Robert and Lorraine Vanek, and grew up in Cicero, IL.
He was a graduate of Morton East High School in Cicero, and continued his education at Michigan Tech University, earning a B.S. in Forestry. For all who knew Ken, knew he was truly at home in the outdoors, cultivating landscapes or merely reflecting among his beloved trees. He was a master craftsman and has left behind a legacy of his hand-crafted treasures to his children and grandchildren to celebrate for generations to come. He worked the majority of his work-life for Dominick's Finer Foods. After retirement from there, he worked part-time for several years at Home Depot, where he happily imparted his vast knowledge to many. He was a lover of all animals, and that showed in the care he gave to his many dogs over the years. He was especially in awe of the majesty of the Bald Eagle, and his family believes his spirit is soaring among them now.
