Kathleen Ann Petersen, 80, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born on December 4, 1945, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Edward Rohn, II and Katherine (Brennan) Rohn. She grew up alongside her siblings Edward J. Rohn, III, Susan (Rohn) Groden, and Nancy (Rohn) Van Marm.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Susan.

On June 14, 1969, she married the love of her life, Ronald "Ron" Petersen, at Freedom Lutheran Church in LaSalle County, Illinois. Together they built a life full of adventures, laughter, and love.

Kathy was a proud mother to her sons, William and Robert Petersen, and a devoted grandmother to Garrett, Max, and Margaret, who brought her endless joy. After graduating with a degree in Education from Northern Illinois University, she began her career as a teacher in the Rutland School District where she taught second grade. Later in life she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and cared for elderly people in their homes. In both roles, she brought the same warmth and care to others that she showed everyone in her life.

Kathy was active in her community through the Serena Methodist Church and also the Lions Club and I Care International. Together with her husband Ron, she went on missions to deliver donated eyeglasses to people in need around the world.

She loved traveling, road trips, and spending time along the Fox River enjoying the wildlife.
