EDNA C. KARSTEN, 99 years of Naperville, IL, formerly of Evanston, IL passed away July 3, 2013 at Meadowbrook Manor, Naperville, IL. She was born January 12, 1914 in West Travis, WI, the daughter of the late Chris and Julia (Hanson) Simonsom. Edna was a nurse and during her retirement volunteered at senior centers and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Evanston and Word of Life Lutheran Church of Naperville. Edna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a kind, gracious lady who valued her friends and independence very strongly. She is survived by her son Richard (Annetta) Karsten, Montgomery, IL, Grandsons Chris (Lisa) Karsten, Chicago, IL, Nathan (Carrie) Karsten, Oswego, IL, Logan Karsten Minneapolis, MN, granddaughter Kelly Wawers, Des Moines, IA, step-granddaughter Tracy Kuhn, Oswego, IL, step-grandsons Rick (Michelle) Kuhn, Oswego, IL, Kevin (Patty) Kuhn, Sheridan, IL, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Karsten, son Donald Karsten, brother's Sidney, Melvin and Colonel Simonson, sisters Simi Stromblad and Nora Simonson. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2013, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL 60543 where the funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. immediately following visitation. Pastor Gary Petersen of Word of Life Lutheran Church, Naperville, IL will officiate. Graveside service will be on Monday, July 8, 2013, 11:00 a.m. Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd., Skokie, IL. 60076.
