Julie Ann Thompson, 47, was born in Aurora, Illinois on February 3, 1977 and passed away at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, Illinois on June 6, 2024.

Julie was the brightest star in our extended family. Her life was filled with happiness and joy despite roadblocks every so often. She always smiled at each challenge and did her best to enjoy life and do the best that she could with her limited physical abilities. Life was sometimes a struggle but you would never know that once you knew Julie regardless of her daily challenges. Smiles for everyone all the time.

Never once did she lose that smile despite the many medical challenges along her journey. She was very special to all that knew her and everyone marveled at her love for life and zest for enjoying friends, family and her A.I.D. stars companions. Family get togethers were her joy regardless of the occasion.

Her years at Keeler, Hope Wall, and the Association for Individual Development (A.I.D.) were her life besides her family and she loved being able to venture outside of her family with them and experience what life had to offer. Julie excelled at Special Olympics during her school years and won many swimming medals despite her physical challenges. Later, while in the adult program in A.I.D. she experienced everyday living skills that people often take for granted.

Julie loved family travel, vacations, live musical shows, school activities, dances, and anything that offered a departure from daily living. But most of all, she was a constant companion to her parents of 47 years and formed a bond which lasted for her entire life. She will be deeply missed by her parents, siblings, family, and A.I.D. friends that touched her life. Julie was an example of living life to the fullest in her own special way. She will be waiting to join all of us once again. God bless her and all the joy that she brought to everyone.

Julie was proceeded in death by her grandparents Leon and Nellie Cook, Carl and Marilyn Thompson, and uncle Larry Cook in infancy.

Julie is survived by her parents, Tommy and Leah Thompson, sister Melanie Smith, (Marcus), brother Thomas Thompson, (Almela), two nephews, Tobias and Tyler, eight aunts and uncles, and nine cousins.
