It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Julee James Coughlen, who departed this world on December 23, 2024, at the age of 53.

She was born on January 22, 1971, in Dixon, IL, Julee was a cherished daughter, beloved wife, devoted mother, and a friend to many. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Julee was the daughter of Thomas J. James and Joyce L. (Nee Passini) James. Growing up in a close-knit family, she developed strong values of love and compassion that she carried throughout her life. She was also a loving sister to Mary Margaret (Craig) Borri, and a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews, who brought her immense joy. Julee danced her way through her twenties until finding her soulmate Gardner C. Coughlen, with whom she shared 18 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their beloved children, Holli and Colton, who were the light of her life. Julee's love for her family knew no bounds; she was their biggest supporter and a guiding light, instilling in them the importance of kindness, integrity, and hard work.

Professionally, Julee was a talented hairdresser at Salon Platinum, where she not only showcased her artistic skills but also formed lasting friendships with her clients and colleagues. Her dedication and passion for her craft were evident in every service she provided, leaving many with a smile and a sense of confidence.

Julee loved spending time with her family and friends. While she may not have had many formal hobbies, her greatest pastime was simply being present with her loved ones, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Julee's warmth, kindness, and infectious smile made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She had a unique ability to light up a room and bring comfort to those in need. Her spirit will continue to shine through the lives of her family, friends, and the community she loved so dearly.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until time of memorial service 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church 805 Western Joliet, IL 60435.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Julee's laughter, love, and spirit will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace, dear Julee. You have left this world a better place through your smile, laughter and may you be dancing with the angels.
