Judith "Judy" Rae Ostry, a beloved wife, mother, meme, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at Arista Healthcare, Naperville, Illinois, at the age of 78. Born on September 3, 1947, in Moosup, Connecticut, Judith was a beacon of love and warmth throughout her life. Judith was the cherished daughter of Benjamin Brodeur and Leonore (nee Bussiere) Brodeur, who instilled in her the values of kindness and perseverance. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family, which included her siblings—Sandra Smith, Lynn McCormick, and Patrick Brodeur. Judith embraced her role as a sister with great affection and shared countless memories with her siblings, which they will carry in their hearts forever.

In her personal life, Judith was married to her devoted husband, James E. Ostry for 56 years. Their partnership was a testament to love, respect, and companionship, and together they created a nurturing environment for their family. Judith is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer (Erik) Higens and Kerri (Mark) Cuny, who were her pride and joy. She was a doting meme to her four grandchildren: Darian (Quinn) Wilson, Skylar Higens, and Lauren and Trevor Cuny. Judith delighted in her role as a grandmother, showering her grandchildren with love and wisdom, and supporting them in all their endeavors. She was preceded in death by her brother Peter Brodeur 2020

Throughout her life, Judy had a myriad of interests that showcased her vibrant spirit. She was an avid reader, losing herself in the pages of countless books and stories. Music was another passion of hers; whether she was singing along to her favorite tunes or simply enjoying the melodies, it brought her immense joy. Judith also loved to play card games, where her competitive spirit shone through as she enjoyed the company of friends and family. A dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs, she took great pleasure in cheering for her team, embodying the spirit of a true fan.

Judy will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering love, her zest for life, and her ability to bring joy and light into the lives of others. Rest in peace, dear Judy. Your spirit will forever shine bright in the hearts of those who loved you.
