It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Juan A. Castañeda, who left this world on December 29, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 6, 1956, in Mexico, Juan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many during his remarkable journey through life, which spanned nearly seven decades and was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Juan was the son of Jose Pedro Castañeda and Juana Benavides, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and community. His nurturing spirit and unwavering support have left a lasting impact on his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Recendez, and his loving children: Jorge Reta (Valeria Madrigal), Juan Castañeda (Margarita Castañeda), Guadalupe Castañeda (Carlos Castañeda), Itzel Castañeda (Raul Rodriguez), and Karen Castañeda (Esteban Gonzalez). Juan was a proud grandfather to Desiree Reta (Alberto Aguirre), Soraya Partida, Adriel Castañeda, Adelyn Castañeda, Aleyah Castañeda, Michael and Ezekiel Castañeda, Esmeralda Reta, Mateo Gonzalez, and Genesis Rodriguez. He also celebrated the joy of being a great-grandfather to Aliana Aguirre.

Juan's family was his greatest joy, and he dedicated his life to fostering strong relationships with each of them.

Known for his heart of gold, Juan was the embodiment of friendship and kindness. He was always ready with a smile and a helping hand, making him a cherished figure in the lives of all who knew him. His passions included baseball—he was a die-hard Cubs fan—nature walks, and outdoor adventures, where he found joy in the simple beauty of life. His love for nature extended to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared countless adventures and memories, teaching them the importance of family and appreciation for the world around them.

Amidst his many roles, Juan was not just a remarkable father and grandfather but also a true pillar of strength for his family.
