Joyce McDade (nee Schwebke) finally got her wish to 'see Jesus' and was called home on March 5, 2025.
Joyce was born on May 9, 1933, in Mendota, Illinois, one of eight children born to George and Phyllis (nee Bonnell) Schwebke.
She was a graduate of East Aurora High School and spent the majority of her adult life in Aurora. She worked at Barber-Greene where she was the first women to hold the position of Assistant Personnel Manager, responsible for hiring and retirement counseling. She worked in this position through the closure of Barber-Greene, at which time her husband's job sent them to Wisconsin. There she worked in the Physics Department at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee as the Departmental Secretary.
After retirement they settled in Jacksonville, Illinois where she was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, volunteering in the office on Fridays and serving on many committees.
Joyce was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, attending games into her 80s and subscribing to Sports Illustrated so she could track NFL teams.
Joyce is survived by her four children Richard (Lorrie) Arend, Mark Arend, Pamela Darlak, and Tracy (Franklin) Williams, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, her sister Sandra Mendez, and long-time family friend Marilyn Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, parents George and Phyllis, brothers George, Wayne and Gerald, and sisters Phyllis Schwebke, Mary VanDeventer and Georgetta Glass.
The family will celebrate her life in a private ceremony.
