Joseph Lee Crisman, 77, of Norway passed Monday evening January 2, 2017 at Regency Care of Morris.
Joe was born April 5, 1939 in Ottawa to George & Bernice (Brownfield) Crisman. He married Diane Jean VanDorn June 14, 1959 at the Norway United Methodist Church. Diane passed March 20, 2011. In the early 1960's Joe worked at the Troy Grove Quarry and then worked on the Ralph Toftoy farm for 15 years. He was then a truck mechanic at the Ottawa Oasis Truck Stop for 10 years and then a mechanic at the Dierzen Trailer Co. in Newark for 25 years before retiring in 2012.
Joe loved working on & repairing farm tractors and other machinery and had worked at the Sandwich Fair Tractor & Truck pulls. Joe & Diane had been weekend managers of the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago and on every Christmas, he loved filling in as the house Santa Claus.
He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Crisman of Norway; his granddaughter, Sara Lee Crisman of Sheridan; a sister, Wilma (Loren) Helgeson of Plainfield; two brothers, James (Nancy) Crisman of Mountain View AR. And Michael (Melody) Crisman of Marseilles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane; his son, Joseph Allen Crisman; four sisters, Lois Hosick, Bert Odum, Beverly Mason and Ann in infancy.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7th with Pastor Richard Fassig officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Newark. The family will greet visitors from noon until time of service. Cremation services were accorded to Joe's wishes.
In lieu of flowers memorials are directed to the family.
