Jose Rafael Galarza, age 68, of Oswego, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on November 15, 1954, the son of the late Augustin Galarza and Baudilia Garcia.

Jose got baptized and dedicated his life to Jehovah on April 12th, 2003 and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was known for being an intelligent jokester who constantly would fill a room with his warm wisdom. He was one of a kind. All who knew Jose would say he was kind and meek.

He was a caseworker for the Department of Human Services in Aurora, IL for 38 years prior to his retirement. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, IL.

He is loved, missed and survived by his wife Minerva Garcia-Galarza, daughter Gillian (Gabriel) Galarza-Garcia, son Jay Galarza, three sisters Doris Velasquez, Rosa Galarza, Maria (Jose) Gonzalez, three brothers Raul (Josefa) Galarza, Roberto (Esther) Galarza, Felipe (Pamela) Galarza, several nieces/nephews, and his canine companion Pugley Chapo.

A memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 261 Ashland Ave, Aurora, IL. 60505 on November 18, 2023 at 3 pm. Anyone who would like to celebrate Jose's life and memory are welcomed to attend.
