Jonathon "Jon" Paul Werner, age 47, of Plano, IL, passed away on March 6, 2024 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. Born in Voorhees, New Jersey on April 27, 1976, Jon was a beloved husband to Heather Werner.
He is survived by his mother, Diane Rinehard, father, Timothy Werner, stepmother, Carol Werner, sisters Cynthia Dzurko and Lori Werner, as well as his children, Matthew and Makenzie Werner, and nieces and nephews, Lilian and Ava Neuman, Drew Dzurko, Jacob Ryan, and David Martinez. He will be greatly missed by his fur babies, Fritz, Ernie, Daisy Rae, Peanut and Precious.
Jon was known for his passion for collecting guns and knives. Heather never understood what one person would need 200+ knives for. He also enjoyed collecting guitars and looked forward to jamming with his father. He proudly served in the Marines from 1995 to 1999 where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. After his military service, he pursued a career as a diesel mechanic, displaying the same dedication and precision he had shown in the Marines.
A memorial gathering to honor Jon's life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 South Douglas Road, P.O. Box 665, Oswego, IL 60543.
A private Inurnment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL the following week with full military honors.
Memorials can be made in his memory to the Kendall County Animal Control 802 John Street Yorkville, IL 60560 would be appreciated.
