JOHN H. WHALEN September 23, 1965 - December 31, 2019 John Hennessey Whalen, 54, of Sheridan passed December 31, 2019 at his home. John was born September 23, 1965 in Sandwich to William & Carole (Brown) Whalen. He was a 1983 graduate of Serena High School and received an associate degree from Joliet Junior College. He married his best friend Cindy (Waddell) on March 31, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. John was working as a project engineer for Plano Synergy in Plano, IL. Over the past 25 years he designed and helped create popular fishing and hunting gear used by people worldwide. John was a truck enthusiast and volunteered on the Village of Sheridan Zoning Board. He was known as a well-respected and reliable friend throughout his community. John is survived by his wife, Cindy; his four children, Jenna (Peter) Pfau of Serena, Justina (fiancé Rebecca Kent) Whalen of Callaway, MN., Oakley Whalen of Sheridan, Jake Naggs of Sheridan; two grandchildren, Oliver Pfau and Taylor Naggs; three brothers, Jerry (Lois) Whalen of Seneca, James (Brenda) Whalen of Seneca, Jeff (Wendy) Whalen of Chicago; two sisters, Judy Kelly of Wheaton, Jolene (David) Ciolino of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews. He was loved dearly by his family who could always count on him for a laugh, a hug, or a ride . . . even if it was across the country.
