John Irvin Shumaker, 99, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Accentcare Hospice in Naperville. He was born November 22, 1924 in North Lewisburg, OH, the son of the late Clemon and Amy (Fisher) Shumaker.

He graduated from Versailles High School. He served his country in the US Navy Submarine Service from 1942 – 1946. He was married to Myra June (Hole) Shumaker for 72 years and lived in Dayton, Ohio for 50 years. John served as a fire and rescue volunteer for over twenty years. He retired from Union Oil Company after 42 years of service. John and June relocated to Oswego, Illinois in 2000 to be closer to family. They were members of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Oswego. He is survived by their daughter, Jill (Bob) Ludlam, grandchildren John (Ashley) Ludlam and Krissy (Michael) Vitello, and two great grandchildren "on the way". He has been preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and two brothers.

A private family graveside service will be held later in Versailles, Ohio at Greenlawn Cemetery.
