John Aaron Manning, 87, of Plattville passed Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017 at Pleasant View Luther Home.
John was born August 12, 1929 in Plainfield to Bert & Marian (Chaplain) Manning. He was joined in marriage to Joyce (Wright) July 23, 1953 in Plainfield. Joyce passed June 30, 1989. John had farmed all his life in the Plattville area and had served as Commander of the Plattville VFW, had been a Little League coach in Plattville, had volunteered on the Lisbon-Seward Fire Dept. and had been a Moews Seed Corn dealer.
He is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl (David) Wallin of Seneca, Diane (Jan) Wallin of Yorkville, Janice (Craig) Decker of Yorkville; a son, John D. (Nicole) Manning of Minooka; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce Manning; a son, Dale Manning; three brothers, Arthur Manning, Robert Manning, Howard Manning and a sister, Helen Manning-Thomson.
A visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20th until the funeral service at noon with Chaplain Linda Weidenbach officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. 102 S. Johnson St. Newark, IL, 60541-0623, phone 815-695-5131. Interment will be at the Plattville Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Plano American Legion. Following the interment a lunch will be held at the family farm.
Pallbearers will David Wallin, Matt Wallin, Shae Manning, Connor Manning, Nick Decker and Phil Wallin.
