John F. Ode (Jack), Jr., 96, lifelong resident of Oswego, IL and WWII Veteran-Army Artillery, passed away surrounded by family on September 18, 2021.
He was born December 15, 1924 in a farmhouse on Grove Rd. south of Oswego and lived on a farm on Reservation and also on Stephens Rd., until his parents moved the family to town when he was a young boy.
Beloved husband to Evelyn (Johnson) Ode, loving father to Lorraine (Dennis) Beasley, and proud grandfather to Jennifer Beasley (James Daily) from Olivette, MO and Michelle Beasley from Washington, D.C. Survived by brothers Roy (Irene) Ode of Earlville, IL, and Jim (Paula) Ode of Oswego, IL, together with many nephews and nieces.
Preceded in death by parents John and Emily (Lindemier) Ode, sisters Marilyn Guffey and Ida (Harold) White, and sister-in-law Vivian (Johnson) Haas.
Jack married Evelyn on March 7, 1952. He and Evelyn built the home they lived in for 69 years: in the same block as his parents, grandparents, and uncle. He was employed by Western Electric for 32 years in the plating dept. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and going fishing in Wisconsin. He knew how to fix just about anything and enjoyed projects.
Jack was a member of the Oswego American Legion Post 675 for 75 years.
