John F. Carlson, CPA, MST, 70, passed away on March 2, 2018 at Rush Hospital in Chicago. He successfully ran an accounting practice in Oswego with his wife for 25 years. He was a graduate of NIU, DeKalb and DePaul University, Chicago. John was an avid Cubs fan and his greatest passions were playing Bridge and golf. John was the beloved husband of Kalynn (nee Gassman) for 48 years; the loving father of Krista (Wade Lawson) Carlson and Timothy Carlson; cherished grandfather of Ethan and Keegan Carlson; precious son of Carl (Kelly) and Helen Carlson (nee Peterson); and dear brother of Donald (Patty) Carlson, Phil (Sherrie) Carlson, and Christine (Vaun) Meinhold; admired brother-in-law of Calvin Gassman; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Angela, and his in-laws, James and Ruth Gassman (nee Solt). A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at theDUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 S. Douglas Road Oswego, IL. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Dr., Aurora, IL at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2018 with a gathering from 10:00 AM until the service.
