Joel D. Pyle, 74, of Somonauk, Il, passed away at his home with family by his side on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Joel was born on December 29, 1949, to Charles and Edythe (Gee) Pyle in Aurora, Il. One of six children, Joe spent his childhood in Aurora and graduated from West Aurora High School in 1968. After graduation, he joined the electrical apprenticeship and was sworn in as a member of IBEW Local 461 in 1969 where he was a proud member his entire career and into retirement, recently becoming a 55-year member.

Instilled with an incredible work ethic, Joe worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his wife, Sherri (Ellington) and children, Pamela Rebhorn (Russell), Joel D. Pyle II, Travis Pyle (Sarah), Ryan Pyle (Stacy), Amber Matile (Jason) and Nikki Molitor (Greg). His best days were ones spent with his family. Whether meeting up for Sunday breakfasts, watching his grandchildren play sports or helping with home improvement projects, Joel was always there giving not only his time, but his thoughts on the quality of the food, quality of the umpires and quality of his kid's DIY abilities.

Joel's second love was baseball. Whether playing as a child and then as an adult or watching his children and then his grandchildren play, baseball made him happy. As a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, he enjoyed going to Wrigley field to watch them play and rarely missed a game on television. He was thrilled to see them win the World Series and was proud to have a commemorative brick installed at the ballpark in his name.

Joel's legacy will be the fierce love he had for his family, including his sister Janet, twin brother, John, his grandchildren Nathan Pyle (Zelda). Hannah Rooney, Katie Rebhorn, Alyssa Pyle (Kyle), Valerie Johnson (Anthony), Carson Pyle, Vanessa Pyle, Logan Abens, Brooklynn Pyle, Tori Pyle, Avery, Payton and Madison Matile, his great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joel was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers James, Jeffrey, and Charles Pyle Jr.
