Joanne Edna Klima, age 71, of Aurora, IL departed to her heavenly home on Friday May 18, 2018 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She was born March 17, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, IA the daughter of the late Robert E. and Hazel I. nee Derby Hunter.
Joanne was married to the love of her life Joseph M. Klima for 51 amazing years. She attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, IA, where she was selected to work in the first Cardiac Telemetry Unit at St. Luke's Hospital. As a licensed practical nurse (LPN) she continued to work at many other medical agencies including clinical and at home care. Prior to retiring she worked with several families giving in-home childcare. Although her most fulfilling job was being a homemaker to her husband and two children.
At the age of 7 Joanne gave her life to Christ. She studied the Bible and began her relationship with the Lord. Throughout her walk with God, she was able to use her outgoing personality to spread the good news of Jesus. She has been a part of several churches and enjoyed involving herself in Sunday school, choir and women's retreats. She most recently was attending Harvest New Beginnings Church in Oswego, IL. Her God given artist gifts included sewing, caligraphy, crafting and so much more.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Michael Klima, children Michelle (Scott) Piquard, James (Adriana) Klima, three grandchildren Taylor Piquard, Briana and Lucas Klima, her twin brother Joe (Judith) Hunter and sister Virginia Avril.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 9:30 AM until a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Cremation was accorded the wish of the family.
